Over the past decade, IPF has evolved from our first home in Andover, MA to become one of the North Shore's most well-respected, innovative, and successful athlete and adult training facilities. Here are some highlights of our journey:

Walter, who previously served as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for both the Boston University Men’s Hockey program and the NHL Boston Bruins, becomes the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Harvard University Women’s Ice Hockey program.

A Year with Matt Damon
2016-2017
Matt Damon trained at IPF for a full year, committing to growth and hard work alongside our community.

Walter continues his long history of coaching in professional soccer (Boston Breakers, New England Revolution) as NWSL stars, Sam Mewis, Kristie Mewis, and Steph McCaffrey, train during their off-season at IPF.

IPF Gets Better!

Winter 2012
Walter works out LeBron James, Chris Paul, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and other NBA stars as part of the Nike Training Staff at their Headquarters.
IPF West Coast
Fall 2011
Walter trains Ben Affleck in L.A. to prepare him for his role as a CIA agent in Argo and brings IPF coaches, Jamie and Liz, with him to shoot a scene in the movie that Affleck also directed. Argo would go on to win an Academy Award for Best Picture.


IPF Steals the Show
Summer 2009
IPF coaches have a blast as extras in the movie The Town, filmed in Boston, MA, which Ben Affleck co-wrote, directed and starred in.
Getting Shredded
Spring 2009
Walter begins his long journey (10 movies in seven years) of training Ben Affleck and Jen Garner while Affleck is filming and directing the critically acclaimed movie, The Town.


Training the Big Three
Winter 2007-Summer 2008
Walter served as the Boston Celtic’s strength and conditioning coach for five years, including their 2008 NBA Championship win.
Building a Community

Walter opens The Institute of Performance & Fitness (IPF) in Andover, MA bringing to life his vision for a more personal environment with structured training programs for athletes and non-athletes from all different backgrounds and levels of ability.
